After selling your domain name to another person, you will be required to transfer it to the buyer. In fact, you have to do this before money will be released to you from an escrow account. This piece will cover the transfer process, if you have the same registrar with the buyer. On the other hand, if both of you have accounts with different registrars, the buyer will initiate the domain transfer through his/her registrar but you must provide the authorization code which will be emailed to you on request from your registrar (read the full process <a href="http://sofreedomains.blogspot.com/2015/05/how-to-move-your-domain-name-to-new.html">here</a>). But if both of you have the same registrar, the information below will be very helpful.
You should log in to your account manager and select the
domain name(s) you want to move to another account. You will then need to enter
the email address of the buyer, (ask the buyer to give you the email address
he/she uses with the registrar) which will be used for the processing. In order
to make the process faster, do not change the contact information – leave that
for the new buyer to do. You should also keep the current name servers for the
domain because if you don’t, the registrar will just park it when the buyer
activates it in his/her account. You also need to agree to the domain name
change of registrant agreement and once you agree to the terms, you should then
click ‘finish’.
After some hours, the domain will hit the account of the
buyer and once that is done, you can then request for the release of your money
from the escrow account. Take note that there may be little variations in this
process from one registrar to the other, but basically, I have revealed what
you will definitely experience.
